Admission  to a baseball game is $4.50  for general admission and $7.00 for reserve seats. The receipts were $5694 for 1112 paid admissions.How many of each ticket were sold?

x = number of reserve tickets
1112 - x = number of general admission tickets

4.5(1112 - x) + 7x = 5694   {value of ticket times number of tickets equals total value}
5004 - 4.5x + 7x = 5694   {used distributive property}
5004 + 2.5x = 5694   {combined like terms}
2.5x = 690   {subtracted 5004 from each side}
x = 276   {divided each side by 2.5}
1112 - x = 836   {substituted 276, in for x, into 1112 - x}

276 reserve tickets
836 general admission tickets
