Help

The sum of two numbers is 65. The smaller number is 13 less than the larger number. What are the numbers

x = larger number
x - 13 = smaller number   {smaller number is 13 less than larger number}

x + x - 13 = 65   {sum of two numbers is 65}
2x - 13 = 65   {combined like terms}
2x = 78   {added 13 to each side}
x = 39   {divided each side by 2}
x - 13 = 26   {substituted 39, in for x, into x - 13}

39 and 26 are the two numbers
