A total of $8000 is invested: part at 8% and the remainder at 12%. How much is invested at each rate if the annual interest is $650?

Re: interest
This post was updated on
.
x = part at 8%
8000  x = part at 12%
.08x + .12(8000  x) = 650
.08x + 960  .12x = 650 distributed
.04x + 960 = 650 combined
.04x = 310 subtracted 960
x = 7750 divided
8000  x = 8000  7750 = 250 substituted
$7750 at 8%
$250 at 12%
