the perimeter of the triangle 63 units and the lengths of the sides of the triangle are consecutive even numbers. what is the length of the longest side?

Are you sure they aren’t odd, because consecutive evens would add up to be an even number?.....anyway:

x = one side
x + 2 = second side
x + 4 = third side. {sides are consecutive even numbers, which increase by 2}

To find perimeter of a triangle, add up all sides.

x + x + 2 + x + 4 = 63   {added all sides and set equal to 63}
3x + 6 = 63   {combined like terms}
3x = 57   {subtracted 6 from each side}
x = 19   {divided each side by 3}
x + 2 = 21   {substituted 19 for x}
x + 4 = 23   {substituted 19 for x}

19, 21,and 23 are the 3 sides
