2 kg of iron melted with 7 kg of other metals makes the alloy. If 1440 kg of the alloy was required, how many kilograms of iron should be used?

If 2 kg of iron and 7 kg of others are melted, the ratio of iron to total is 2:9

2880 = 9x   {cross-multiplied}
x = 320
